
Casa Maiorca is on the second and last floor of a historical building, included in the list of buildings of great historical and monumental interest of Ortigia. It belonged to the Marquises Scandurra-Navantieri, of which you can admire the coat of arms, it is of very ancient origins even if the earthquake of 1693 has strongly damaged the upper part of the palace that was rebuilt in the rococò style in 1702. The arch of the entrance door is probably the work of the famous architect Vermexio then dating back to the first half of 1600.


Casa Maiorca it's been the family place of the sporting icon Enzo Maiorca.



Champion of apnea and several times holder of the world record of immersion, first man to enter in apnea the threshold of 100 meters of depth going down -101 meters in the sea of Syracuse. Environmentalist and connoisseur of the sea, he fought for the protection of the environment and the sea.

First man to free-diving the threshold of 100 meters deep.


But the greatest merit was to give voice to the sea and its inhabitants.
