It is a protected area and a UNESCO archaeological site of Sicily. A very suggestive locality, it is one of the most important proto-historical places in Sicily. The area includes the valleys on which flow the river Anapo and Calcinara (in the latter it is possible to do hydrotrekking) and the top areas on which the plateau is developed are covered with vegetation on which stands the Forest of Giarranauti.
